Kaplan Meier estimator can be used not only in medical studies, but also in economics, ecology and engineering. In medical research it is often used to measure fraction of patients survive for certain amount of time after treatment. In ecology, it can be used to measure how long fleshy fruits remain on plants before they are removed by frugivores.In economics it is used to estimates length of time people remain unemployed after job loss. In analysis with SPSS, click on Analyze and then on survival. And then click on Kaplan Meier.
